Our fees are always based on time spent-- in inventory, inspection, research, valuation, and write-up. Incidental expenses are included in fee. Overnight and travel expenses are billed at cost or can be provided directly by the client. We charge lower rates for inventory work and time spent by our assistants. Travel time is not billed if short and, otherwise, billed at lower rates than appraisal time. We do not put on the clock the enjoyable discussions that are almost always part of appraisals and one reason we do so many of them. Advance estimates of time/cost are provided and before we actually start the appraisal, you will know the exact cost or the lower and upper limit of the cost of the appraisal.
